When you type in a so called screen name and it comes up they are not currently signed on does that mean that it is not a screen name at all or that it could be on to?

is there anyway that you can tell if it is a real screen name ?
Answers:
It means that they are offline or that screen name you typed in was not taken. But AIM bots are always signed on. :)
