Question:
Is anyone else sick of celebrity news?
I can remember back to being a teenager (I am now 54) and looking up to those movie stars, or rock idols. Thinking their lives were just wonderful, big houses, nice cars, trips.
Then you grow up and as times change so do my opinions of being able to look up to much of anyone in the celebrity arena.
Sure paparazzi must drive these people nuts, I know for one I could not stand to be followed, and hounded day in and day out.
But why do we have to hear every little detail of all their lives? Who cares if Britney went out without underwear, if Cameron is with this guy, is Justin seeing this girl or that girl?
My days do not center on who is sleeping with whom, where they went to dinner, what they had or didn’t have on, or if they are using drugs, and/or alcohol.
What does this show our children, how do they ever grow up with role models? I guess all they have is us, their parents.
What are you doing to help your children grow up with morals and values?
Answers:
I am older than you are. I would not allow a TV to be in our home to begin with. My children read many books and did much of their growing up outside. They learned to grow things and appreciate much of what was around them in the world. They were not "city" kids and always had plenty of fun things to do.
None of them show much interest in shallow minded "celebrities". I suspect that those people who are have not been taught to think, parents are not interested in school and learning, and they are too interested in what their peer group believes in.
My children were taught that it was all right to be different, in fact preferable. Parents today seem to believe that children should be little robots. They must learn the same things at the same time and many"s lives are choreographed so much that they have no time to be curious little children. I suspect that in the future my children would be sent back to a school to be reprogrammed because they are not allowed to be different in the society that is developing.
