What is it with famous male actors going drag?
Patrick Swayzee, Martin Lawrence and now John Travolta! I think it's terrible they have to stoop to cross dressing to get into movies! I am not for it. There are so many of us fat girls out here that could play that part naturally that travolta is doing. One male actor was a hit with doing it and now they all have to do it! It was funny and artisitc when Swayzee did, hilarious when Martin Lawrence did it. After that it was being a copy cat and that isn't funny nor artistic nor original. Why can't these actors find something original to do to stand out in their career without copying what someone else already did and overkilling it?

It's nothing new Milton Berle made a career in early television out of dressing in drag. I believe some actors see it as a challenge to pull off such a roll. I don't think there is any more too it than that. You forgot Eddie Murphy in Norbert.
A lot of it may be because of modern makeup techniques have made some of these transformations possible for the first time in entertainment.
