What does 8/7c and all that stuff mean?!

What does 8/7c and all that stuff mean?

i see it on TV but i don't understand it..

I'll give you an example:

Let's say it's 8:00pm and you live in New York City.

Your show comes on at 8/7c.

Your friend who lives in Chicago wants to watch it too.

Your friend is in a different time zone so the show would be on at 7:00pm instead of 8:00pm.

Get it?! Yeah it's kinda hard to explain. I used to not know what it meant too.
