Answers:

Brush several times a day gently. Never ever ever use a comb--it causes split ends. Use a soft brush always. While not washing daily sounds gross to some people, washing daily dries out your hair and removes all the natural oils. And even though you might wash your face daily with no problem, hair is made of different kinds of cells than flesh.

Back in the day I had hair down to my waist and about every three months (careful, guys. I gonna gross you out) I did not wash it for at least a week, brushing it several times a day so the oils would work through all of it. Cover your hair with a hat or pretty scarf or maybe braided somehow if its long enough during this time. (too bad we didn't have french braids then) It is a gross feeling a bit but the results were worth it. Oh--almost forgot--make sure during this week you don't have a special do going on. Can't help you with how to avoid your boyfriend without hurting his feelings!!

I'm really really against shampoos that have any kind of chemical in it and I use only the ones that are totally natural. I read the experts back then and they say that after about three shampoos, switch to another one. Regardless of whether or not it is chemical or natural shampoo, there is a build up on your hair. The new one washes out the old and it feels super soft and is super shiny. The absolute best shampoo I ever found (so far) is Awa poo-ey. Spelt wrong but I'm sure you'll find it. And Paul Mitchell anything. I have four different brands I rotate about every two weeks.

Rinse in cold water--as cold as you can stand it--this helps with the silkiness and adds softness naturally. If you can afford it, rinse your hair with bottled water--less chemicals.

Absolutely stay away from any kind of heat when drying--I always went for air dried which was fine in the summer but the winter----!!! Sheesh!! If you must blow-dry, don't blow it completely dry--it'll frizz all to h e l l.

Can't tell you a damm thing about perms---I absolutely will not get them---chemicals, chemicals, chemicals! Even though my hair is a bit wavy, I sleep using sponge curlers which do the job fine. Just have to make sure my hair is only slightly damp--it doesn't dry otherwise.

If you must dye, use only the non-permanent dyes that wash out after X shampoos. I used to live near a woman who religiously dyed her hair at the first sign of a root and now, she's going bald. Doesn't matter that products now are new and improved.

Lastly, the most important thing is to eat healthy well-balanced diet. All the work in the world won't help one bit if your hair is not healthy to begin with.

p/s my boyfriend looooves to run his fingers through my hair! :)) (and I enjoy it too)
