Question:

Is 1973 'Dylan' album worth anything?

I have a vinyl copy with cover in excellent condition of the Bob Dylan compilation 'Dylan' released by his record company in 1973 when he fell out with them (or vice versa) and wouldn't do a studio album. It includes covers rejected for Self Portrait like Mr Bojangles and Big Yellow Taxi. Does it have any value to collectors - I wouldn't part with it as it is part of my complete vinyl collection of Dylan official recordings but for some reason I have two copies - someone must have bought it for me when I already had it, but you know that was a long time ago, long before the stars were torn down ...


Answers:

That album was a real embarrassment to Bob... and oddly enough that does give it some value. I'd advise, if it's in decent shape, pitching it around at vinyl fairs.

If you've listened, it's mostly terrible, a rare thing with Dylan albums.

Oddly enough, it's the only one I don't have a copy of...
