Remember that Forrest was "simple". He probably said that he didn't understand why all those Vietnamese were trying to kill him and why he was trying to kill them back. He also probably said that it would make sense if everybody just went home and stopped killing each other. And that's why the guy in the American flag shirt said "That says it all".
