Bogart, and Tracy and Raft et al- all Gay?!

Question:

Bogart, and Tracy and Raft et al- all Gay?

A new book out on Bogart`s early years minces no words about his gayness.

This is neither here nor there; except for Lauren Bacal`s over-the-top justification over and over and over about his manliness.

What is curious is the extent to which the Americans tend to deny that Hollywood in the Thirties and Forties was just as bisexual as Germany or Britain or most of the other European countries. Probably still is.

I must say I always found Bogart just a bit to the right of Vincente Minnelli about whom it was said used to wear makeup on the set and off.

I said it aloud in a screening of a Spencer Tracy film (1972)....`Geez, that guy gives me the creeps. Are you sure he`s all Katharine Hepburn says? He looks impotent. Poss into young boys?`

So much for first impressions.
