I worked there in the 70's and really loved the place. I loved to go see the R&B acts at a place called THE KIT KAT CLUB. I was usually the only WHITE GUY there. I saw PERCY SLEDGE there LITTLE JOHNNY TAYLOR,,JOE TEX,, AND MANY MORE

I live in Hendersonville, just a few miles from Asheville. The Kit Kat Club is gone. If I go listen to live music I go to Jack of the Wood. It's a little hippie (like most of Asheville) but it's non-smoking. You won't see any Percy Sledge type music there, though. I did see a very interesting Celtic-rock-country-disco band. You haven't heard Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" til you've heard it with bagpipes...
