How cool is Marilyn Manson? What do you like about him and his work?!

Question: I'm an artist (paint) and just did a custom piece featuring him. I'm 40+ so I know little of him but so far I'm fascinated.

I've only heard a few songs, 2 remakes and one featured on his myspace site. - love them all.

Tell me what makes you a fan. Also, do you think an MM concert would be fine for a 14 yo male and his friends up to 16?

Thanks..

Thanks.. I'm a big fan. I've really enjoyed everything he has to offer until his most recent album came out (Eat Me, Drink Me). I think he did not put as much effort into it as he did all of his previous work.

Why do we like him? He's bold, he's wild, he's extreme. He gets people's attention. He's very intelligent. He's deep. He knows how to show a variety of ideas and emotions in his work very artistically. He enjoys touching social taboos. He stands strong in the face of persecution. He has a very interesting style and sense of fashion. He puts on very entertaining live shows. And he loves to rock. All around perfect musician.

I'm not sure if his shows would be appropriate for a 14-16 yr old though. I mean, I would have REALLY enjoyed it had I been able to attend such a thing at that age. But some parents do not want their kids hearing profanties, blasphemies, etc. There's is also a small bit of sexual imagery (probably less than Madonna or Prince). He did one piece where he dressed up like a cop and someone came out and shot him. To me, it's all artsy and entertaining. But to some people, it is very offensive and too hardcore.

If you are wanting to promote you piece featuring Manson, I highly suggest you listen to all of his music. Familiarize yourself with his songs and how his style has changed over the years. I think it may help explain who he is and why he does what he does. i don't like anything about him, he's so weird and disgusting!!!! I can't stand him. I think he's an absolute freak with no talent other than scaring people. I don't think that anyone under the age of 20 should be allowed to attend a concert of his. I LOVE his music because he just doesn't care what anyone says and he questions our beliefs sometimes like in "The Love Song." Manson's awesome. I think that his concerts are good for anyone (no matter what age). There's no sense in sheltering children from the world when they're going to be exposed to things someday... there are more horrible things than cursing like poverty, war, and the government... I prefer Charles Manson and i am a fan of his work Don't care for him at all. I think he's disgusting as well. I would never permit my 14 year old child to attend a concert of his...and i'm pretty liberal with that kind of stuff. He scares me and creeps me out. i hate him ... he's creepy ... y would anyone be a fan ? I don't think that Marilyn Manson is cool at all. I don't like him and I don't like his work. His songs all sound monotonous to me, and his voice isn't very good. His lyrics are not only poorly written, they contain very offensive content too. I have never been to an MM concert, but here is what I have read has occured at MM concerts: At Manson’s concerts, he leads his young impressionable fans in energetic chants like, “WE HATE LOVE, WE LOVE HATE. WE HATE LOVE, WE LOVE HATE…” Besides a message of hate, Manson also leads his fans in chants that glorify drugs. Manson shouts before his young audiences, “Give me a D. Give me an R. Give me a U. Give me a G. Give me an S. And what does that spell?” To which the crowd roars, “DRUGS!” Source: http://www.goodfight.org/e_mmanson.html
I also heard that he rips up bibles at his concerts. Here is a youtube video of him performing a song at one of his conerts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5GAdXjpz...
I do not think that teens should go to a concert of his. He is NOT a good role model.
