What does everyone think about Ellen's hairdresser getting her dog back for !

Question: Ellen Degeneres apparently adopted a dog, found out the dog was too rambuncious for her and Portia de Rosse, and Gave the dog to her hairdressers 2 daughters (ages 11&12). My questions is, Should the adoption Center it came from return it to the girls?

Yes while most places do have the clause in the contract that states if you cannot keep the animal, you must return it to them, I think there is more to this story than just that.

On TV this morning the woman who runs the agency was on Good Morning America whining about how rudely she was treated and that her agency has been threatened....and more importantly she has been threatened. Her legal representation was there too. How convienent.

Did her agency look at the home before taking the animal? No, they went over there with the intension of removing the animal; they went with police force and made a decision prior to determining if this family was capable of taking care of the dog.

Bottom line here is that the pet agency is looking to make a name for themselves and need this 15 minutes of fame to make their case. If Ellen had returned the dog to the agency, there was also a fee associated with the return- it standard. It's in the contract, the woman today did not mention anything about that. Not to mention that the place could then charge the adoption fees again to a new person and possiblly get more for this dog as he/she had been in Ellen's care.

This case has absolutely nothing to do with animal rights. They never took the time to find out if the animal was taken care of. This agency is using this to gain noteriety and publicity. Since she mentioned that this was a not-for-profit agency she should be ashamed of herself by using this situation to gain air-time.

What this adoption agency is saying is that every home that has children under the age of 14 is not a suitible home for a pet. Prove it. I have gone to shelters and resecued both cats and dogs and never been told that because I have younger children that we would have a bad home. That's discrimintory to make a blatent judgement without looking at the families. She has used the contract to get her way and as she told
America on TV this morning " I will never give this dog back to the hairdressers family because I didn't like the way Ellen and her people treated me".

The only way this dog will be returned to this family is if someone (Ellen) makes a very sizeable contribution to the agency and the family comes in a pays this witch with a B her adoption fees.

This woman doesn't care about the dog as her statements this morning made that very clear.
I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Let the children have the dog! They should quit worrying about minor stuff like this and start worrying about all the other animals who don't have homes.
I agree- let the girls have the dog
As long as it was being taken care of, it never should have been taken. The whole point is to find someone who will take care of the animals.
In perspective of the adoption agency: They have a clause in their contract that states the pets will not be placed in a home with childeren under the age of 14. The hairdresses daughters being 11 and 12, allegedly makes it an "unfit" home for the puppy. They believe the contract was broken, and therefore the dog is still their property.

I, personally, think thats a pile of horse poo. I understand they have a contract and what not, but Degeneres and De Rossi have been in posession of the dog for several months... that is their dog. I think wiht Degeneres' history with animal rights organizations and other charities she is associated with, i honestly doubt she would place the dog in a home that would bad or "unfit"

I think that legally, both sides have good arguements. But on a human interests aspect of it... the adoption center is putting themselves in a terrible bind. This much negative publicity can kill an organization, no matter how good their intentions are. They say they will not be "bullied by people who throw their power around like Ellen Degeneres". I dont see this as throwing power around at all, if ellen was mary johnson who lived on the corner of elm st.... i'd still feel the exact same way that i do.
blah blah blah. who cares!
Its a well known fact that when you adopt animals from these types of papers you are signing & agreeing on taking care of this animal. It may not have been such a terrible thing for her to have given it to her hairdresser, but technically wrong. However the agency should not have done such a huge deal. They should have looked in this case and see if the Hairdresses is suited to take care of the dog, not just taken it away from them. Ellen did invest alot of $ into the training of this dog, and if its working out for the hairdresser and the daughters, let them have the DOG!
