When my brother was 9, he had leukemia (they thought he wasn't gonna make it) and the make a wish foundation flew Mickey Mouse from Disney Land (or was it Disney World?) to visit him in the hospital. Also, he was visited by Rowdy Roddy Piper (REAL old school "pro" wrestler) in the hospital.
