Last week I kept seeing bits & pieces of Jerry Seinfeld on TV w Larry King over !
Question: Taken out of context, the clip makes King look clueless (or Seinfeld look arrogant, or both, depending on your POV). But in context, it's pretty clear that King isn't being clueless -- he's just continuing a conversation they were having. You can check out the transcript, but, to paraphrase it, the full exchange boils down to:
Seinfeld: We were almost cancelled.
King: Really?
Seinfeld: Yeah. It almost happened.
King: But in the end, you weren't. You cancelled them, they didn't cancel you.
And Seinfeld just takes the phrasing of this sentence and runs with it, teasing King about being out of touch. I don't think King thought Seinfeld might have been cancelled, and I don't think Seinfeld thought that King thought that -- he's just poking some fun at how King phrased his point, which was, "Yeah, but in the end, they didn't cancel you."
