Why are we so obsessed with celebrities?!
Question: why do we care for people who live the same lives as we do, but are known for it? Why is it that we would cry to meet someone, when really, they don't even know you exist or even care for you as much as you do them?
Everyday I see the headlines of the new Britney breakdown, but I'm like who cares? Why do we care so much about her life, when we really should be caring about the music?
We all want their hairstyles, we all want to be like them, but why can't we just be our normal selfs?
It's almost annoying!

I agree...the worship of the celebrity themselves has just gotten out of control...but then the anti-worship is just as bad. There are people who expend lots of energies being an anti-fan as much as those "annoying" fanboys and fangirls and groupies out there.
Personally,I think only the most shallow of people want to take on the identities of celebrities. Most people admire them but still want to be who they are.
You don't have to participate in so-called "celebrity worship" no one is putting a gun to your head to do this. If you're not as obsessed as you try to imply with this somewhat judgmental posting, why did you bother to post? why aren't you asking questions about global warming or something?

Because someone told us we should be. Seriously. It may have started with looking up to people, but now they aren't people we really truly look up to, just rich people who someone told us we should look like, act like, and be like.
cause the media is shoving it in are faces, even tho we dont want it, i mean how many shows are there besides of everything enterinment, and its mostly about celebs and tthere damn problems or whos dateing, or whos getting married, does anyone really care?
The basic reason is the greed and not being satisfied with ourselves.
We think that the reason that the celebs have the money may be this or may be that, and we think if we act like that we may be able to acquire wealth.
i know! agreed! When my friends talk about celebs, im just like: " psh. I have too much of a life to care about theirs! "

Brittany Spears is a big one...she gets on my nerves some times im like....what about all these other mothers that went through the same thing
or like when a celebrity dies its all over the news

Because they have more money than most of us. They live more extravigant lifestyles. The press just gives us more info about them then we really need, or want.
because its gossip ..thats it were humans mostly prone to talking about what britany wore the to party or what john said wen he broke up with jessica (these are all examples) but like i agree why we always do that i prefer to hover over the music
it's all ridiculous and I usually turn the tv channel when they start dishing about the celebs. but my 16 year old daughter could tell you a ton about celebs.. it drives me up the wall. what ever happened to nice normal people who had dinner parties and their past times where anything but boozing and drugging. I don't know why pepople obsess. maybe there is something wrong in their lives and when they see these supposedly perfect people screwing up it makes them feel better. who knows. I think it's all just a waste of time.
well I think we just want someone to bother, whoever's in the public eye. If they were horrible in a movie, or if they do 1 bad thing, the media will tear them into little pieces. We also just want to be "better" when we don't even realize is that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
Well Me for one I`m not obessed, I can carless about brittany spears or how much times paris hilton went to rehab. Some people are just so obessed with celebrities because they don`t have a life of thier own.

I stopped watching broadcast news many months ago. The coverage of the death of Ana Nicole was WAY over the top. A stripper who married an old guy who dies of a self inflicted drug overdose; and the first 15 minutes of the broadcast was dedicated to that story. What crap..................
The dumba$$ MEDIA are obsessed w/ `em. I`m sure most normal people are not.
Well...thats what they are trying to do. Get us obsessed w/ them so we can buy there albums and music and concert tickets. Its more money for them!

We are not obsessed with celebs, we are just raised in a society where celebs get the most attention since they are everywhere from television and magazines. And we as people part of a community (even if we reject to it) have this built into us. Sort of like, if you do something repititively, you get used to it and sort of remember it, and that is how we are giving soo much attention to them.
celebrities .. most of the time they are celebrity coz they are successful.. they have something which we dont have...
Money... fame.... success....
its human nature we always attact by something which we havent got...
some people proud to know some celebrity as celebrity is most influence person for certain people..
( for eg: they use their name and gets some more business )
we can be our selves.. the day we understand this fact we dont fenses them...
my dad made me understood long time ago.... i am thank-ful to my dad as i dont have craze at all to see them or meet them ...
People love to escape from their own lives and hear about the crazy fantasy lives of celebs.
not me . but most people are.
i gusse it gives us somthing to do.
