It's a place in India that makes a lot of movies, like in America it's Hollywood. The term can also refer to the type of movies that are made there. Usually a lot of singing and dancing, a more whimsical and clean alternative to American movies. Try renting some of the more popular ones, you'll probably find it entertaining.

India's version of "pop" movies. Over the last few years I've watched quite a few of their musicals, and really enjoyed them. The Bollywood movies I like to watch are their over-the-top romances, you might even call them corny by our more "sophisticated" standards. But their innocence is what I like about them (and probably why jaded folks might hate them).
