Steve Irwin's Death?!

Question: I don't understand something about the death of Steve Irwin.
He was swimming with one stingray or a pod of stingrays?

Was he swimming alone?

Haw far was the boat from the local hospital?

Did Steve jump on top the stingray?

What EXACTLY happened under the water on the day of sorrows?

Thanks

Steve was snorkeling at Batt Reef with a cameraman, part of the Great Barrier reef, and about nine miles out of Port Douglas.

He was making a film called "The Ocean's Deadliest" The film was being made in conjunction with Jacques Cousteau's grandson Phillip.

His boat Crock 1 was close by when he swam over the sting Ray which was buried in the sand.

The ray struck him purely defensively, and the barb, described as like a rusty dagger went into his chest, but the poison had done its work, he did manage to pull the barb out himself, but by the time the paramedics got to him it was too late.

I only know that one stingray stinged him, directly in the heart.

their poison is rather poisonous, and when so close to one's heart, nothing can be done.

didn't he die within 15 sec?

anyway, I personally didn't like his show.

I plead the fifth.

This site explains it all:

Irwin's manager John Stainton said Irwin was being videotaped diving on a reef off Australia's northeast coast for a television show.

He told Australia's Network 10 that Irwin managed to pull the barb out of his chest but said it was too late, as the poison had already entered his body. Irwin then went into cardiac arrest, news reports said.

As I understood it he was in the water and there was others there - they were filming for something. and a stingrays tail went up (a defense mechanism) and punctured his chest - fatally and instantly killing him.

He was in the ocean filming a new show and i believe his crew were filming him touching the stingray with his hand when it shot a barb into his chest - causing a heart attack.......

he was out at sea, so it would take a while for the boat to come back to shore to get to hospital............

no he didnt jump on top of the stingray....

hope that helps, it was on tv here alot in australia, so im only going by what was on the news

well as far as i know he was filming a documentary and as usual was messing around with a stingray like he always does with other animals but this time the animal/fish whatever actually got him and did something that he couldn't escape and he died that was the first time an attack by any creature was successful on him unfortunately it was the first and the last.

he wasnt swimming alone their were ppl around him

dnt know about the hospital

he was actually swimming on top of the stingray

he was a showman and he died being a showman
sometimes over the top.

crickey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
