No they aren't real. He said so himself that they aren't. He said most are illusions. Nobody can do all that stuff without dying.

Although it may seem that he can do impossible things, he's not all-powerful. Most of what we think of as magic is based on misdirection and misinformation, as well as directed assumptions. One example will prove the point. In the illusion classically known as the Zig Zag, the girl gets in the cabinet that has a female outline shape on the front. We see her face sticking out of one hole, her hand out of another, and her foot out another, and then the "magician" puts in blades that, apparently, go through the girl, and he pulls her middle out.

What we don't see, though, is that the blades, although they're long enough to go through the box front to back, aren't really as wide as they seem. And we're perplexed because it looks like she's still standing straight on, when what she's really done is twist to the side inside the cabinet, out of the way of the blades, and moved just her hand when the center is moved out.

Even though this is a basic illusion, all illusions have the same principles.

Now I'll reveal something about Chris Angel.

There was a much publicized stunt that he did where, apparently, he ripped an audience member lady in half in the middle of a park.

However, on closer examination, I noticed a few things that were out of place. First, it was a warm day, and he chose the lady in the long dress and long sleeved shirt. In a crowd of several young women, why choose the one with the most clothing on for an apparently random trick.

Second, he went out of the way to try and convince us the park bench was just a standard park bench. A little side note, if a magician tells you there's nothing up his sleeves, more than likely there is. At the same time, if a magician tries to make you believe a park bench is real and solid, more than likely it's not.

Third, the girls he asked to pull the young lady apart reacted way too slow. If you were to see someone having something dreadful happen, you wouldn't contribute to it, yet they apparently pulled the lady's two halves off the bench.

Finally, the "half" that took off was, supposedly, the lady's upper half, and she took off very quickly for someone who had just been made legless.

Why are these things important? First, the dress and long sleeved shirt were used as a disguise. I'll tell you the final point at this time as well. The only way that someone could take off with just their arms like that is if they had a lot of experience moving that way. This means that the "half" on the ground was not the original lady's upper body at all, but someone who had lost their legs, such as a double amputee.

The original lady was there, but, as I pointed out with the bench, her real upper parts were laying inside the bench, which had been built for that purpose. The legs that supposedly stayed behind were, in fact, her original legs, but the rest of her was inside the bench. Did you notice, in the playback, that they never actually shot the bench from an angle that would prove, beyond a doubt, that it was just a bench, such as straight down? The reason is that she was in there.

And the crowd was in on it too. The reactions were staged to make it seem like they had no idea they'd be a part of that.

Don't get me wrong, I may have plenty of parts that aren't right. These are just my own suppositions on the illusion.

But Chris Angel is a fairly good illusionist. He has taken classic illusions to new levels, but, still, he is not magic. He is as real as you or I, he just knows how to manipulate your thoughts to make it seem like the things he does are magical.
