What exactly is the deal with kevin Smith and Tim Burton and the feud/disagreeme!

Question: I'm aware that Kevin felt that something in Planet of the Apes was copied from something Kevin did, but what exactly?

The deal dates back to 1996-7 when they both worked on Superman Lives project and Smith wrote a script which Burton declined or at least got to rewrite by a team of other authors. You can actually see it floating on the web and decide for yourself if it was that excellent. Smith was infuriated, he began to send the script copies around signing them 'F**k you Burton'.

The war went on on TV, when Smith attacked Burton on PoTA, claiming he stole the Ape Lincoln ending from his unpublished script based on some comic book /sorry can't remember which now/.

Burton returned he never read a comic book and he doesn't know Smith at all, which was not true but understandable in the light of the events.

In yet another talk show when he was presented with Burton words, Smith fired 'That explains Batman i guess'. Needless to say, both took too much offense for nothing. And Burton read comics of course, he studied the whole box of Batman ones when preparing to shoot the movie /source: SpEd Batman 2DVD/

Finally Smith admitted he overreacted and said he was sorry at his newsaskew official site and confessed he always liked Burton style. I haven't heard if Burton accepted apologies.

That's it i guess. The interview clips are at
