I just saw where Dan Fogelberg passed away from cancer. Anyone like me who reall!
Question: Yes, I know that probably a lot of you won't even know who he is, but he is a big part of my growing-up musical memory (mainly in the 70's/early 80's). I loved his lyrics and the way he sang. Some of his big hits were "Leader of the Band", "Same Old Lang Syne", "Power of Gold", "Longer" and "Phoenix". Does anyone besides me remember him? This news has really hit me. He was only 56. Hey folks, life truly is short.

Yes, I loved Dan Fogelberg! I seldom cry when celebrities pass away, but I truly shed some tears when I saw this news this morning. Such a talented, gentle yet powerful singer. The first song I ever heard of his was "Run for the Roses." We were driving down to Texas to see my newborn niece; when that song came on the radio, I was hooked. And when my dad died 2 years ago, I dedicated "Leader of the Band" to him--
"I thank you for the music
And your stories of the road.
I thank you for my freedom
when it came my time to go.
I thank you for your kindness, And the times when you got tough.
And papa I don't think I've said
I love you near enough."
I'm really going to miss this man and his music.

I'm sorry for your loss and for all who really enjoyed his music. It certainly brings home the issue of our mortality. i'll keep my ear to the ground and see if I notice his music being played.

My clock radio went of this morning, and they said he had died. Then, they played "Same Old Lang Syne." I cried on my husband's shoulder.
Me too. I was so sad to hear, was really sad all day today and will be for a while. WHAT A LOSS!
