While I never have seen her show and am not really sure of why she is famous other than being the adopted daughter of Lionel Ritchie, I happen to like Nicole and find her quite attractive.
I'm not really one to like superficial people who are in the limelight for apparently no reason,or because of sensationalism but I must admit there is something very different I see in Nicole Richie.
The scandal rags out here have had quite a time giving her attention in the spring of 2006 because of photos of her with an apparent eating disorder (photos that have obviously been altered if you see the others in the series).
She did admit, "I know I'm too thin right now, so I wouldn't want any young girl looking at me and saying, 'That's what I want to look like." She also said, "I started seeing a nutritionist and a doctor. I was scared that it could be something more serious."
As you can see many people do not seem to like her in this country, but there is a percentage of the nation that are gluttons and gossips who dislike anyone who is "too" thin and anyone that they can point their judgmental self righteous fingers at.
Some facts about Richie are;
In 2005, Richie wrote a semi-autobiographical novel, The Truth About Diamonds, which was released by Bharell Jackson Publishing. The novel is loosely based on her life, but is mostly fictional.
In addition to acting and singing, Richie has also modeled and has appeared in ads for Bongo Jeans and Jimmy Choo.
She has also encountered her fair share off legal difficulties;
In February 2003, Richie was arrested in Malibu, California and charged with possession of heroin while driving with a suspended driver's license.
On December 11, 2006, Richie was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after she failed a field sobriety test. She was charged with driving under the influence on State Route 134 in the Burbank/Glendale, California area. Several motorists had reported a black Mercedes-Benz G-Class entering the SR134 freeway on the exit ramp and traveling in the wrong direction. She admitted to using marijuana and Vicodin before the incident. July 27, 2007, Richie was sentenced to four days in jail, but served about 82 minutes of the sentence as Richie checked herself into the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California on August 23, 2007 at 15:15 PDT and was released at 16:37 PDT.

In November 2007, Richie and her fiance' Joel Madden, created The Richie Madden Children's Foundation.
The charity will create and promote an online registry to inspire the purchases of items for moms and their families in need.
Recently she was given a leave of absence of her court madated anti drinking and driving class because of an instructor's concerns about her health during her pregnancy.
A spokeswoman for Richie tells Life & Style magazine, "Anyone who is pregnant or has medical issues can leave the class. It wasn't Nicole asking - she just showed up one day and the paparazzi were chasing her and she was exhausted. So the director of the program was concerned for her and suggested she take a leave of absence. She didn't get special treatment."

She seems fine per the gossip reports. They are having a boy and I believe she is due by February or sooner.
Nicole Richies baby is due around New Years, the press has even released that it might be a New Years' baby! No one has let out whether it is a boy or girl though! :( She has put on weight since being pregnant which has helped!! She looks beautiful!! :o)
