Yes, you left out aerosmith, journey, boston, chicago, jethro tull, genesis, brandx, ambrosia, april wine, rush, jimi hendrix, judas priest, marillion, neil young, queensryche, iron maiden, Ratt, soundgarden, the doors, uriah heep, YES and even vintage van halen :)

Just thought I'd add a few more of my favorites, but you are spot on the music of today is genuinely forgetable at best.

I think it has to stem from the dynamics of digital recording and how everything sounds the same. analogue recordings had much more dynamic and a unique sound to them, as each analogue recording studio had its own imprint on the music. Today, the digital recording studio is just 1s and 0s.

No real power vocalists like back in the day ....

Dylan's still going and doing great stuff which will stand the test of time

i only recognise queen, pink floyd and the rolling stones from that list!!! oh and that led zeppelin has bin in a few ads lately not sure who that are like

Rock will live on forever!! Everyone doubted it back then, but we rockers knew better, didn't we? Yes the music of today really sucks. No tune, melody, decent lyrics, just a bunch of head-banging noise! How can people really like that crap?? Rock on friend, rock on!

Very true! Back then it took real talent to produce an album. Today all it takes is looks, popularity, and pathetic trash that only takes them a month to make...very sad.

I agree, the music today is just commercially processed and no real heart behind the lyrics like some of the legends above.

Can't see this scenario in 30 years time "Hey Grandad, give us a song", " Ok, Ruby, Ruby Ruby! aahaahahah!"

I think most of it will be forgotten like most of the music from the 60's 70' and 80's has been forgotten.
There will be some that will 'live on' in the memory and will still be played but the vast majority won't

Who the 'f' are Grand Funk Railroad ?

All the bands you mentioned are in my top bands, music will never be the same as that again. My fav is Led Zepplin and Queen. Hate all the new music these days, it certainly wont be remembered by me in 20 years!

I disagree because your simply not listening to the decent artists. I know exactly what type of music your referring to, and if you listen to that music you shouldn't of asked this question.

Oh by the way i like classical music, just so there is no confusion.

Okay.....................i believe ya.............but where's d question??

You forgot the Eagles! In my opinion, there is no music today as is as timeless as those you named. I think in 20-30 years, the exact list here will be the same.

Yes, I thoroughly agree! What about the Beatles, Elvis Presley, classical music? How good is today's stuff on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 give it ----7 (yes, that's minus minus minus minus seven).

By the way, I'm a teenager so you can reassure yourself that the next generation's music taste hasn't quite fallen into complete disrepair!

One reason the music above will be remembered is because it came about in sort of a musical revolution period. Nowadays most music does not have much character and something seems to be missing. If we notice there seems to be a void in music stardom these days. It seems every period up to now had it's own talent. In the middle of last century they had people like Frank Sinatra and the big band age. Then Elvis came into the picture in the 1950's and ushered in a different type sound. Then we started to notice alot of the blues and soul musicians. Not just us, .... but they were inspiration for some of the muscians you mentioned above. Of course in the late 60's and early 70's we had a host of great performers. The southern rock era was born and gave us the Allman Bros. and Lynnard Skynyrd. You mentioned alot of great talent and there was also Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, and etc. etc. In my opinion the music we are mentioning will probably overshadow the disco and new age period that followed. Just my opinion and I hope it helps! Good luck!

AMEN!!!

I keep on saying its so sad this is the music of my generation.

I find myself listening to old rock stations any day before new music. Queen, Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin are my favorite bands and i am 23 how sad is that?
it disgusts me that the music that defines my generation is trash!
