Question: I am a great danny kaye fan and wondered if he did a Royal Variety Performance Show. I know he was a great favourite of the Royals. If he did is there any kind of footage on dvd at all.

Danny Kaye appeared in the first of his several Royal Variety Performances in 1949.

One of my earliest memories was listening to 'The Ugly Duckling' on a 78 in my older cousins house in the early fifties.

You can see his biography on http://www.maurice-abravanel.com/kaye_da...

And one of his videoclips from the 'Court Jester' 1955 on http://errachidia.org/sport/1-kaye.html

I had a look at Wikipedia "Royal Command Performance" - Danny Kaye.
It looks from the "index" as though he has appeared but I must have missed his name when scrolling through the performers in every year since the RCP started.
You might like to have a look - talk about nostalgia. All those old names really brings back some memories of younger years.
Danny Kaye has always been a favourite of mine, too.

danny kaye appeared in the 50s and 60s a fond favorite of the royal.
