because back then it was ok for them to eat and the men controlled it. they didn't feed the image you need to look like a crack whore so thin your ribs could break through your skin if you fart. hollywood is run by the left and and women. it's these people who are seriously screwing up women and telling society you need to live up to an impossible standard, not to mention the damage it does with diet trends.

they all look the same now. and theyre oh so slutty.

And all their parts were real.

There was much more emphasis on image, which was tightly controlled by the movie studios. You wouldn't see those stars out in public without being fully made up with a fashionable outfit on.

I agree!

I think that is because they each and their own individual look and they were natural.

Everyone in Hollywood today looks exactly alike. You can thank their surgeons.

You are so correct... and they didn't get all the airbrushing and "digital enhancing "that modern stars do. Modern actresses really are not that beautiful, and only a handful are truly accomplished actresses.

sort of but people like lindsay lohan, paris hilton, britney spears they get wasted thrown in jail and so they never look good, but peeps like beyonce', kelly clarkson peeps like that there better even if there not that famous

i agree that they were beautiful. what i see as the difference is that we have romanticized their memories and purged all of their unfavorable traits that they had. today there are a lot of beautiful women stars but they are much more three dimentional unlike the more two dimentional stars of yesterday. some say that anna nichole smith was beautiful, promoting herself as a new marilyn monroe. maybe she was both did playboy spreads, both were in the limelite, both died young, both had dealings with very rich and powerful men. to me what made smith ugly is he general lack of talent and her being a gold digger. hepburn, tierney and taylor all had bad things in their past that in their day may have influenced individual views on their attractiveness. unfortunately, or fortunately the extra stuff has been purged from our memories of them, and no longer influence us. stars today are still bound by this. it is very easy to romanticize things/people from the past and be critical of the things/people that are in the here and now.
