Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnancy...Judging a book by its cover???!
Question: I was just reading on Eonline and there were several comments on there that shocked me so bad i reported them as abuse of the site. As you all probably know by now, Jamie Lynn Spears who is Britney Spears' sister is 12 weeks pregnant at the age of 16 by her boyfriend who is either 18 or 19 (conflicting reports). The thing that has always bothered me is the way that every one judges the spears family and treats them so bad. I for one am not about judging a book by its cover and yes britney has messed up several times but who are we to judge her and think we are any better than her. There are probably 10% of users on here were either pregnant young or were born to young pregnant mothers, or have made a bad decision. Why are we all of a sudden placing britneys mess-ups on Jamie Lynn??? What has Jamie Lynn done besides be britneys sister and get pregnant at the age of 16? Please let me know what you think and if you have a negative thing to say about the family i want details as to why!!!!

Thank you! My opinion in all of this is that Brit has had nothing to do with why all of this has happened with Jamie Lynn. I used to like Brit but she has gone way to crazy for me and even you have to admit that she has gone over the edge way to many times as a mother and a role model to ever have my respect again or the respect of many others. As for Jamie Lynn, she just made an honest mistake as many teenagers do, she just happens to be famous and have a famous sibling so she's drawing attention. If every case of teen pregnancy brought this much attention nothing else would ever get talked about really. The media just needs to move on because there honestly are better things to talk about and I'm sure Jamie Lynn and her family would appreciate the privacy. It's hard enough to find out your 16 and pregnant and have to tell your family but could you image having the whole world know too, just put yourself in her shoes. I was there once except I was 15 when I had to do it and it was the hardest thing of my entire life so I couldn't imagine how she feels with the media hounding her and people dogging her like they area. I think she'll do great and I'm praying for her.
I don't think most people "Judge" Britney and her sister. But most people will have an "opinion" of their behavior. Getting pregnant at 16 isn't going to draw a lot of positive opinions, especially from someone already in the spotlight! As far as Britney, her actions aren't going to draw much sympathy either. Is it sad that they are making poor decisions? Yes. Are many people going to feel sorry for young ladies living privledged lifestyles making bad decisions? No.
Wow, are you really that consumed with other people's life's ? Do you know how many teenage girls are pregnate ? This is nothing new. Why dont you focus on the real issues in the world like, the war or starving people in africa !
I think it's the hypocracy, that's why people are judging, this family says that they're role models to young girls all over the world, they get together w/ their mother to write books about mother/daughter relationships as if to give advice to other mothers and daughters, and then they turn around and do things like this. She is not your typical 16yr old, the moment she chose to follow in her sister's footsteps and become an entertainer she ceased being a typical 16yr old, she became a 16yr old girl who will be looked up to by hundreds of other young girls around the world. Yes young girls get pregnant... probably everyday, but how many of them don't have to worry about providing for their child. Jamie Lynn will never have that worry but the hundreds of young girls who look up to her, what about them? I just think it sets a bad example and they (the Spears family) should be called on it.
I have a friend who was acquainted with the Spears family b/f Brittney became famous. She knew the stuff about them that has only come out the last year or two. At the time when she was saying all this, I was a little doubtful myself. But now that all the things she had been saying is being confirmed and reported on in the media, I believe everything she was saying way back then. I blame the mother for most of it b/c it seems her number 1 piority was $$$$$!! To hell with responsibility to her daughters, raising them with good morals, etc., teaching them the difference between right and wrong. She spoiled them b/c she had her eyes on the $$$$. Where was the love and concern for the welfare for her girls??
I actually liked Jamioe up until Thursday. She know's better and she WILL be a better mom than her sister but that doesn't mean she'll be perfect. I know that Brits made mistakes but I don't care because she has made TOOOOO many mistakes to even care about her. Jamie atuallly has a life in front of her. Britney's is OVER! I still kind of like Jamie. I sorta kinda not really like Britnwey. But at the same time I' lokking at everything she's done and I want to pull my hair out because of her!
Only 4% of teens 15-19 get pregnant in the US. Numbers for sixteen year-olds are less than 0.5%. Outside the US rates are much lower than in the US. Pregnant sixteen year-olds is remarkably rare.
99.5% of sixteen year-olds manage to not get pregnant. They hold off having sex, their learn about birth control, they don't select boyfriends willing to break the law to have sex with them, etc. Their parents don't allow their thirteen year-old daughters to date, their sixteen year-olds to have "long term" boyfriends, etc.
I don't blame Jamie for Britney's mess ups.
My issue with Jamie is that she is a celebrity marketted to tweens. That is 8-14 year-olds, mostly girls. When you are dealing with children, you need to act appropriately. Her role model status to tweens is an issue. Although, it is likely a good oportunity to talk with your kids about teen pregnancy, TV doesn't come with a built-in parent to explain certain facts to children as they come up.
My issue with the Spears family is that then this story surfaced in June, they make lots of statements to the effect that "My daughter is a not pregnant. She is a good Christian." The implication to non-Christians is pretty clear and now that we know she isn't a 'good' Christian, we know that we were lied to.
