He formed the band with Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz, both of whom were active in Chicago's hardcore scene. The son of a folk singer, Stump was originally a drummer for a few local suburban Chicago bands, one of which being a band named Public Display of Infection, which he was in in his early teen age years. Upon the formation of Fall Out Boy, though, he took up not only lead vocal duties but was also forced to learn guitar when an early guitar player quit days before their first tour.As producer he has worked with The Hush Sound and Gym Class Heroes. He produced the Cobra Starship album ?Viva La Cobra!. trade marksTrade Marks Hats, Sideburns, Glasses.Writes all the music for Fall Out Boy.Can play drums and guitar.Best friends with Peter Wentz.Big fan of David Bowie.Changed his surname to Stump from Stumph as not to confuse people with the pronunciation.Favorite movie is Rushmore. In 2001, Stump co-founded Fall Out Boy with guitarist Joe Trohman and bassist Pete Wentz.
Stump first joined Fall Out Boy as a drummer, but his singing talent was soon discovered even though he had no prior experience as a vocalist. Originally, Stump was only the band's vocalist, but after the departure of two members following the release of Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend, he also began playing guitar for the band. At this point, present day drummer Andy Hurley was also brought into the band.
The band's first full-length album Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend was released in 2003 on Uprising Records, although they shortly left the label to sign to Fueled By Ramen. They released Take This To Your Grave in May, 2003, their second full-length album which helped them earn a fanbase and some minor success.
In 2003, Stump and his bandmates signed with Island Records and released the acoustic-based EP My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue CD and DVD in 2004. This was followed with their second studio album, From Under The Cork Tree.
In Fall Out Boy, Stump writes the majority of the music for the band, while bassist Pete Wentz writes the majority of the lyrics. Guitarist Joe Trohman said of Patrick, "I guess Patrick is some kind of musical genius -- he's a total mad scientist."
Stump will also be a guest star on the televison crime-drama Law & Order on the season 18 premiere as Marty Dressler, a lowly employee of an electrical company, who is suspected of the kidnapping of the wife and daughter of an executive. The music business is one of a few places where everything you've heard about it seems entirely cliché, but it's true.

I think you can totally be a totally normal kid from the suburbs of Chicago and go off and play shows. It's one of those things that when you go home, you're still the nerd you were when you left, and your parents still get to yell at you about cleaning up your room, and your girlfriend still drags you to the pet store.

Quiet IS the new loud.

I used to work in a record store. I'm kind of a record nerd.

Yeah, I've been writing a bunch of new stuff, but it's all secret. In fact, I may or may not have been writing stuff this entire interview.

Whoever's in charge of my Wikipedia, alright, whoever you are - the major, most egregious thing in there isn't that, you know, apparently I'm bisexual and have like, twenty kids and, um, that I learned everything I know from a sixteen-year-old who probably wrote that in himself, but the most egregious of all the errors is that it says I am a massive David Bowie fan. Which is true, but it is a gross omission to leave out my obsession with Prince. Absolutely. So whoever you are, throw that in there. Go for it. You know what? Make me eighty feet tall. And you know, make me a transsexual. But put in Prince.

Actually yes i do , i compiled this over 2 years!! Report It
