I would say that the media has gone over board in the last few years.. think about it, never before in history have the public been made to know this of celebs:
Where they go out and eat
What diets they follow
What minor plastic surgery they got done
Who they are S C R E W I N G..
I think people enjoy reading these things because it makes us feel a bit normal..I mean compared to Britney Spears, I'm an apostle!
I think it gives insight on people on pedestals doing normal things, which makes others feel they have a connection with these people all while looking up to them..
Its weird and often goes over board. I do have to agree with you.

they just don't have anything better to put out, and they have to put out something and there are always new stories on celebrities.
because they're famous and when your famous your everywhere especially on the internet. they post them on the internet to get people atractted to their site.
Many people do these thing for money or fun!!! But the others do it because their own lives aren't as intersting !!!!! <3

Then ignore it. Celebrities, tabloids, gossip shows and so on are meant for entertainment purposes only. Its not meant to absorb and make a part of your real life. Its fine to appreciate someone, but to make it something that is your entire world and can think about nothing else, is obsessive and ridiculous.
To me, half of these people are a joke and its fun to add my two cents in, its not like Im hurting the celebrity, if you actually think they give a damn about my opinion or yours, your wrong.

They are fascinated by glamour and fashion and not focused enough on their own lives, they dream about other things which aren't as important in life

I am addicted to Perez Hilton though. For my sins. He can be a bit of a two faced twat at times.
People like to know about them because they are famous, just to be famous is a sort of achievement. So the people admire or criticise (whatever) It is just an interest that's all. I am the same as you. I don't take that much interest in 98% of it.
Because people want to be like them. Which is why I really don't pay attention to celebrities anymore all I care is if they got movies comin out and if I am interested in it. Also if they are tryin to make a difference in the world. If you aint then I could care less

Well I'm not. Most celebs are famous simply for being famous, they have usually done or acheived very little in their lives. How often can you read about their latest love/nose job/boob job/stint in rehab etc. Katie Price (aka) Jordan is a prime example, (tho secretly I admire her manipulation of the media lol) not bad looking, has a boob job, becomes a "glamour" model, hooks up with footballer, has baby, gets abandoned, appears on "Celeb" TV show, hooks up with washed up former singer, gets married, has more kids, then decides to have boobs/nose reduced, re-invents herself as a TV personality/interviewer, magazine contributor, writes autobiography. All done with maximum PR. Is never out of the press for more than a week, sells every aspect of her life to the media and makes millions! Yet they still think she is dumb? So long as people keep buying into this, the media will keep printing it and paying the likes of Katie, Kerry, Amy et al. the money. Who are the fools? .FTR... I only know as much as I do about Jordan because the newspaper I read occasionally takes great delight in highlighting her (and others) motives! Great work if you can get it!
i agree with tha t mad woman people dont have their own lives and they are nosey too. i hate it when the news comes on and they bang on about some dumb celebrity getting drunk or arrested I DONT CARE AND ITS NOT NEWS!
The thing that cracks me up about it is when people go to tmz.com or yahoo OMG and look at pics of these people and then lecture the celebs about their lives and what they "should" be doing. Or they go there and post comments on how they HATE seeing this stuff...yet they actually went out of their way to look. I get what you are saying...you can't really escape it, but I am sure you are not going to specific sites looking for it then. It is for entertainment and truly some of it is pretty funny and anything that can distract us from the reality of our often times difficult lives is a good thing. That is why people obsess on it...like anything else...watching TV or movies or soap operas...we like to escape life even if it is for only a few minutes.
Your not forced to do anything. So what if you hear about it? Shrug it off and go on with your own life. Its obviously important enough for you to take the time and write out a whole rant about it.
My parents dont even know who 'Hannah Montana' even is for christ sakes, and she is everywhere! Why they dont know is because they dont pay attention.
They dont watch the gossip shows.
They dont thumb through the tabloids while at the store
They dont have Yahoo OMG installed.
And they simply dont care.
There ARE ways around it. Emly was right. And its up to you to stop paying so much attention.
Am I saying you will never hear about things? course not, but its easy enough to ignore it when you hear about. If you have the attitude "yeah thats nice, who cares?" eventually it will mean nothing and you wont be giving it much thought.
