We like to see people on edge. And hopefully, going over the edge.
Britney, of course, is in a sad league of her own.
But the theme is remarkably similar. People who had it all seemingly losing it all, and we've got a front row seat to their unwinding.
To their SUV arriving at a fateful courthouse, or their SUV taking them from a courthouse.
Maybe there's something about the powerful looking pathetic. Some secret delight in seeing Hillary Clinton allegedly unraveling.
Or four years earlier Howard Dean definitely unraveling.
I guess in an overly rehearsed and programmed world, it is refreshing to see what image-makers hope we do not.
Stars suddenly struck. Very human, very vulnerable, and sometimes, just very nutty.

These people have achieved more success and fortune than most people could ever wish for, yet there is something missing that makes them seemingly self destruct before our eyes.
This cognitive dissonance is part of the fascination.
I just feel sorry for her.

The sad thing is that no one cares enough about these girls like Paris, Lindsey and Britney to step up and save them.
Simpson and Jackson are a whole different breed - had everything and thought they were indestructible.
i kind of feel sorry for her. but then again it seems that she is not even trying.i dont know what i would do if i lost my kid. if that was me i would try to prove every person i can that I'm a good mom so i will get my kid back. the only ones getting hurt are the kids because Kevin just want them for the money because he is not fighting for sole custody because he know that if he does that she doesn't have to pay child support. but he is no thinking the the way thing are going with her soon she is going to run out of money too. but you are right it seem that we enjoy to see how this people are just going down hill is kind of sad that we like to see that right? but then again we wouldn't like it if it was us the ones playing in the show.
The only real difference beetween me and a celebrity is that they got a lucky break or to to make it in showbiz.
Underneath, they all have the same venal shallow qualities we all do, but they present themselves as so much better, richer, smarter, cuter than the rest of us schlubs.
