Question: Actress Leslie Ash has been awarded a record ￡5 million in compensation after contracting a debilitating hospital superbug three years ago.
Fairs fair but do you think any normal person would ever get that much for the same case? My nan almost died from the same bug when she went into hospital for an operation to remove cancer. Did she complain? No. Did she get ANY compensation or an apology? No. Normal hard working people are just thankfull to be alive and not drain an already damaged health service so what gives the right for these 'celebs' to claim soooo much money? Anyone else sickened by these sponging types? She'll only blow it on pumping her face up again anyway!

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS, ￡5 MILLION IS ALOT OF MONEY AND YES I UNDERSTAND THAT HER LOSS OF EARNINGS ETC...BUT NO PERSON NEEDS THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO LIVE, MY MUM WAS DIAGNOSED BOWEL CANCER AND TOOK IN FOR OP...WE WENT TO VISIT HER AND TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO CANCER!!!! KINDA MAKES YOU WONDER IF WE HAD SUED....LETS HOPE SHE DONATES THE MAJORITY OF IT TO CHARITIES THAT MAY DEAL WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE, AND SHE NEEDS TO REMEMBER THAT FUTURE EARNINGS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT AS THE MESS SHE HAD MADE OF HER ONCE BEAUTIFUL FACE PUT PAID TO THAT.

I imagine the award took loss of earnings into account - and I mean no disrespect whatsoever, but I imagine that Leslie Ash has more earning power than your nan.
That said, the amount is ridiculous, and I hope it gets appealed.

They say it is to compensate her for the fact that she will find it difficult to get good acting parts now but surely her career was almost over anyway or at least at a very low ebb. Especially after the trout pout collagen thing on her face. She was never a lead actress, only ever a supporting actress. I doubt very much if her future earnings would have amounted to ￡5 million.
It was expected to be half a million but the actual award was ￡5 million.
That is really outrageous.

Leslie Ash deserves to be treated properly in hospital.wether she is an actress or not...Dispute the amount but dont begrudge her cleanliness in hospital.. She nearly died and went through 2 years of hell...just because some one didn't wash their hands,, She was in a wheelchair...You moaners are maybe just a bit jealous..I'm sorry about your nan but people like Leslie Ash have to make a stand and get these things in the papers coss like you say who would listen to your dear old nan...
￡5,000,000 of UK taxpayers money for a has been duck. I've been on the receiving end of NHS incompetence and didn't get a penny, mainly because I'm not a money grabber, but also because I don't have the money to sue them in the first place.
she should have sued her husband who put her in the hospital in the first place !!! stupid woman ,she caused her loss of earnings years earlier by messing up an otherwise really pretty face,people who sue health boards are crippling the nhs ,i hope she never works again ,oh i forgot she wont have to !!!
I totally agree. I read in the paper she got 500 thousand then i just read on yahoo news she got 5 million. Any normal person would be very very lucky to receive 5 thousand pound. It's just ridiculous and it's only because she has been famous that they have paid her so much. She is a waste of space and a load of rubbish.

The major problem is that we (tax payers) are paying old trout face. It is not the NHS or the hospitals direct who pay - it is the overburdened British public. She should be ashamed of herself for being so damn greedy.
She was just a faded old bimbo into all sorts of weird things with her husband if ending up in hospital is anything to go by.
