Why is it OK to grieve over Elvis, Kurt Cobain, 2Pac, etc., but not OK to grieve!

Question: Why? Today is her b-day. People tell me I need to get a life, but why don't people who grieve over other famous people & acknowledge their birthdays get any disrespect? I believe Aaliyah is very undeservingly underrated & deserves more credit & recognition than she receives.

idk I actually agree with you completely. She was a great singer and deserves as much respect as any of those other people..if it helps I'll give a little prayer for her tonight :} for her family :}

Actually i agree
with you no one cares
which i think is really rude
she was gorgeaous and had an amazing
voice like she was amazing and i think she needs
to be more appreciated
R.I.P
Aaliyah

I think you have every right to grieve over someone you thought so highly of. Aaliyah was a great singer and she should be remembered-- especially on her birthday!

You know, and I am not trying to brag at ALL, Aaliyah (GRHS) had an apartment in Manhattan on the same floor as my aunt(RIP, 2005). My aunt met her a couple times, and said she was the sweetest person anyone could wish to meet.

I think she may have been one of the other ones that stayed here in Rochester, too, with Timbaland, Missy Eliot, and Tweet. I'm not sure...

But she is sorely missed.
My heart goes out to her avid fans, her personal friends, and especially her family-especially today.

Huh? Who says it's not okay to grieve over Aaliyah? I'm not her fan, I never was, but I certainly don't see anything wrong for her fans (or anybody for that matters) who wants to grieve for her. If we lose someone we love, normally we would also grieve for him/her, right? So what's the big deal?

ignore them. i still miss michael hutchence of inxs. he died in 1997 3 months after I had seen him in concert and met him in person. I still can't believe he's gone. I miss Aaliyah too!

Grief is a feeling, an emotion. No one could or should try to tell you have to feel. It is perfectly fine to grieve over someones death. And iot is perfectly normal too.
