Today's celebrities have lost their class as opposed to the glamourous ones !

Question: being a celebriy is no longer as unattainable and classy as it once was. i believe this is largely due to reality tv because now any regular joe can be famous for doing nothing.

Do people agree? Am i the only one who feels this way??

You are not alone in feeling that way. It is not just the celebrities that have lost their class - as a whole society isn't as into "classy" as they used to be.

Agreed, it's a whole new era, for better, for worse, or both, and then some.

Also more papprazi, bigger pay days for for raunchy pictures. The golden era had scandel too, but the media had more respect then, now those people are stalked 24/7/365.

Totally agreed

I definately agree.
Think of the greats, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, even Elvis - all famous because of their talent.

Nowadays people are made famous for cheating on partners, flashing their pants, taking illegal drugs & dating somebody more famous.
It's no longer a priviledge or a symbol of status to be famous - its generally just the people easiest to laugh at.

(however there are exceptions - people who are famous for their talent alone - keira knightley, scarlett johansen, justin timberlake).

Duh just look at brittney spears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i agree and disagree the paparizzies get more money for bad pics. so they don't take pics. of good things, some of the stars haven't let stardom get to them yet some have, i do agree like some people like britney and jamie lynn arn't so good but others like jonas brothers are good.
I LOVE KEVIN JONAS!!!!

The great "stars" of the past were so much more than "celebrities," that they actually attained a screen royalty status. The old "studio system" groomed their contract players in class and glamour and trained them in the art of acting on the big screen. In those days the great directors and screenwriters worked their craft not for money but for creating a perfect product that would stand the test of time. Put in the hands of genius directors, the likes of Spencer Tracy, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, June Allyson, Clark Gable, George C. Scott, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Marilyn Monroe and so on, met great expectations by delivering beyond their own expectations. How the studios managed to almost always get it right and hire those that would prove to be genuine movie royalty is left to the Gods.
When you give people so much mediocrity - as media does today - talent becomes less important than the "flash" of the "celebrity" which feeds an iPod dependent society instant satiation. It is called "dumbing down." We are in decline.

Agree ~ todays celebs (a few exceptions) seem to be more about whos in at the moment, rather than talent and class.

NO you are not...there was a time where Hollywood meant glamour and class...not anymore....now all you have to do is make a sex tape or get caught out without your panties and you are a STAR!!
Jimmy Stewart was a star
James Cagney was a star
Clark Gable--Star
Loretta Young was a star
Bogart was a star
Henry Fonda---ditto
Susan Haywood--Classy star

There are a couple of stars in Hollywood...but not too many left...
Denzel Washington--classy star
Tom Hanks---star
Christian Bale-- good actor--star quality

There are very few real stars left, very few classy stars...there are a few and they sparkle but I am only 47 and I miss the old hollywood....
There was a time when we admired and wanted to be them...most of the time i just feel very sorry for them.....

I agree. All these celebrities are ridiculous. They act like they don't want to be in the lime light with the paps taking their pics every 5 mins, but then once they fall out of it, they are trying to do something to make a "come back". It really is just sad. Money can't be enough for these people, they need more and more fame, attention and money. They are all selfish retards. Well, I take that back, there are celebrities out there that are still respected and care about others than theirselves, but they are now a minority.

That may be partly true but not entirely.

Back in the day, celebrities were protected. Not sure by whom, probably the studios.

Sure some gossip got out but a good bit was covered up. Outright lies were told to protect their images.
