Is it really true that it is 25 yrs since our beautiful Karen carpenter died?!
Question: What a tradgegy. I have every song her and her brother ever recorded.We saw them in concert here in Melbourne back in their early years.. I have always said when I get to Heaven I am asking God to give me a voice like Karen Carpenters.....that is the greatest gift that i could be blessed with.

I know its so sad that such a beautiful voice and beautiful spirit is no longer with us.
She was to me the best female vocalist the world has seen and no-one comes close to her,though many try.
So many songs unsung,and she was doing so well,after her time in therapy and hadgone back into the studio and recorded what was to be her last song in November 1982 called "Now",a very lovely song about finding the love of her life,
It must have been torture to record the song,as she was going through the break up of her marriage to tom Burris at the time.
But the melancholy was in her voice.The song is on "Voice of the Heart" CD and available at amazon.com.
I too have every album,cassette,record etc in every format from every country in the world,and also over 300 hours of video recordings of concerts,many live in my collection,but sadly i was too young to see her in concert.
A carpenters concert is one i shall regret not getting to for the rest of my life.
But we have the legacy of the beautiful music she left behind,and the hope that Richard will release the still large collection of taping they did over the years before Karen died.
We must hope he releases them,as a voice like that needs sharing,but i do understand why he wants some of her music to be his alone.
My thoughts are with him and his family today.
We will always miss Karen,the years she has been gone have been sad for us all,and she is singing in heaven im sure,entertaining the angels.

is it really? I loved her voice, very sweet.
But, if Mama Cass had shared her sandwich with Karen, they both might still be alive today.
Is it that long??? I dont really remember when she died - I was only 10 years old - but i have seen lots of documentaries etc.about The Carpenters and their music. Karen did have an amazing voice and it was such a shame she died the way she did. I think had she been alive now she would have had a lot more help with her anorexia and who knows maybe she would still have been topping the charts :)
