YONKERS, N.Y. - Buckle up, Hannah Montana!

In a blog item posted Monday, Consumer Reports magazine says 15-year-old superstar Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah Montana on television, is seen in her new movie riding without a seat belt in the back seat of a Range Rover.

So is her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, the Yonkers-based magazine says.

The movie is the 3-D Disney concert film "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," which is based on Miley Cyrus' TV show and has made more than $50 million in less than two weeks.

Telephone calls and e-mails to Disney and to several of Miley Cyrus' representatives, seeking comment, were not immediately returned Monday.

The magazine says 65 percent of the 13- to 15-year-olds killed in auto accidents in 2006 were not wearing seat belts.

"It seems to us that Miley, her father and Disney had a perfect opportunity to help influence teens and counteract — rather than encourage — this trend," the blog

although im not a fan of hers at all, i do think some people are just splitting hairs. ill admit that i dont always wear my seat belt..and im sure everyone at one time or another has not worn their seat belt. people seem to forget that she's a kid.

I saw that article. I have to agree with them, she should set an example for children. She could easily kill this trend and what's more important, her getting good reviews or children's lives?
Everyone knows how impressionable kids are and they look up to miley as a role model. If she doesn't wear a seatbelt then they won't.

*edit* and whoever says she's usually a good rolemodel, lookies at this
http://theirlife.net/gallery/displayimag...

I know, I think they should leave her alone. At least doesn't dress slutty and she seems to be a very nice person. She dresses appropriately and she isn't pregnant. I think she is a great role model for our children.

I totally agree that they are way to hard on her. Shes 15! Shes going to do things shes not supposed to. Get over it! I mean critics are way to hard on everybody. But they're really out to get Miley.

im 15 too and only like 2 months younger than miley and i am NOT a **** like her!! she wears such short skirts!! and the amount of make up slapped on her face is grotesque!! she looked like a complerte and utter PRAT at the grammys.

i'm right there with you.
i run a fansite dedicated to miley and i can't seem to find out why they are so harsh on her.
she's 15 for crying out loud.
let her have some fun
these years are supposed to be the best years of her life
they aren't supposed to be monitored by paparazi and other people watching your every move
and yes that's hollywood life for you, but i mean seriously.
give her a break
she's goign to make mistakes
she's a teenager
she's not perfect
and she doesn't claim to be
riding without a seat belt is obviously for the movie
ho wmany movies are out there with people not wearing seat belts??
HUNDREDS maybe even THOUSANDS
they really need to back up off her.
give her her space
she's trying to make something out of herself and people seem to critisize her every move
well my best conclusion
is that they have nothing else to say against her, so they have to pick at the smallest details.
the day they printed that article, must have been a slow day in the life of celebrities
haha

It's NO big deal that she didnt wear her seatbelt im pretty sure that was just an accident and maybe she forgot to wear it!She is only human she is going to make mistakes like forgetting to put on ur seatbelt!and her forgetting to wear her seatbelt isnt going to affect the lives of others...im a HUGE fan of her but her forgetting to wear her belt isnt gunna make me forget to wear mine!

She is thought by some girls to be their role model. She should act like one then. It is NOT a small matter when young girls follow her every move.

EDIT: She CHOSE to be a celebrity, and as such, she is going to be watched the critics and paparozzi. And as far as telling them to "kiss your booty" that is too funny. It would never happen, those people that take your picture and watch your every move is your bread and butter.

EDIT: For the most part, everyone posting answers to your question are completely missing the point. Miley is a ROLE model to many young girls, her every move is watched by them, down to her clothes, the way she walks, talks, every little detail. The fact of the matter is if she doesn't do something, neither will the kids who watch her. Such as buckling up, which by the way, is the LAW in many states. So, not only was Miley careless, but she was breaking the law. So is she above the law, or what????

I think they should give this kid a break. She is after all still a teenager. No she's not perfect, but you you show me one teen that is.
I am tired of hearing about the media bashing on her and pointing out every little mistake she makes. Didja ever stop to think that maybe that's how Britney Spears ended up the way she is today, from constantly being chastised and criticized by the media?

i think they made to big of a deal about this!! come on! i saw it and i didnt notice it! neither did anybody i was with! its a freakin movie!! lol, yeesh, people...

Some people like to pick others apart because they are jealous of visibly successful people, but I have to say I agree with this particular article. The moviemakers probably should've had them buckling their seat belts in the film. Miley/Hannah, like it or not, is a ROLE MODEL...and people do watch for those sorts of things.

WTF, I mean, it's a MOVIE, for the love of GOD! And Lord help those who base their lives on what actors do or don't do in a movie. Has someone abolished free will? How about compliance with the law? All those 13-15 year olds still don't drive yet, so who every is shlupping them back and forth to the mall, like their parents, can still make sure they wear their seat belts. Haven't we got enough to worry about? How about the fact that people have enough free time to bust on a freaking movie of Hannah Montana? Hey, people, Hannah Montana isn't a real person, so who cares what "she" does? Did you notice that Harry Potter never wore a seat belt either? And, any teen that looks to a film for proper driving habits, really should stick to public transportation, because the aren't smart enough to know any better. It's not anyone's fault but their own, stop trying top blame the movies and TV for every stupid thing that someone does - I'm on your side, Koot!
