Aretha Franklin & Beyonce Madness!?!
Question: Well Franklin, being 65 & Knowles being 26 or 27... umm Aretha, grow up?!! Aretha F feels dis respected by Beyonce because at the Grammys, Beyonce called Tina Turner the queen. Well Here's to you Aretha: GROW UP! What would you do if I called my niece the queen, or myself??? NOTHING! That's what I thought.

ok let me start by just saying that i do respect aretha franklin and her entire career and that she has worked hard to get and maintain the title of the queen of soul
BUT
she's washed up now. she was a legend back in the day but now, she comes across as being an extremely arrogant, stuck up, overweight diva. and it's really not cute. beyonce didn't mean anything disrespectful by the comment but let's look at the facts. tina has always maintained her figure for her entire career and while she can't move like she did thirty years ago, the fact that she is 68 and still looks flawless is something that damn near everyone would want to aspire to be. aretha was hot back in the day. hell, every now and then i still pull out her old lps, but she needs to sit her *** down and stop trying to get another fifteen minutes of fame. let the young ones shine!

There is only ONE "Queen of Soul" and that is Aretha Franklin and she has worked hard and paid her dues and has the talent and the record sales and the Grammy Awards and she has EARNED that title - and Beyonce should have known who the "Queen of Soul" is and who it isn't and it most certainly is not Tina Turner.
I think Aretha Franklin had every right to be offended. Beyonce owes her an apology.
well Tina is the real queen, I would love to see Aretha dance like Tina, remmber they are both in their 60`s. Tina looks great for a 60 something and Aretha is just jealous about that.
Ahaha...Beyonce didn't relly mean it. I think it just came out and she forgot about Aretha. It was just something Beyonce wanted to say to be nice, but didn't think before she said it. Aretha is firing back for publicity.

I think that Aretha Franklin took what Beyonce said the wrong way. Beyonce introduced Tina Turner as the "Queen" not the queen of soul. Thats the difference. Everyone know that Aretha Franklin is "The Queen Of Soul". Aretha let her ego get in the way. Beyonce didnt disrespect her. Men call their wives and girlfriends their Queens. Aretha needs to get over it. No disrespect was done.
I asked the question three times in different categories and got quite a different response than you did so far. I do think Tina Turner is the queen of Rock N' Roll and Aretha is the Queen and only Queen of Soul. I respect all people who are strong enough to go through what Tina has had to deal with. No disrespect to anyone of the newer generation of performers but they haven't come close to sacrificing as much as the older group has in order to make it possible for them to make the money and control their own destiny. I think she knew what she was doing and maybe she didn't really mean to disrespect Aretha but anyone who knows music knows that that's a title reserved for the one and only true Queen.
Aretha needs to get a hobbie i can think of a few things she need to focus on beside the title queen. Get over it!! Beyonce said what she was instructed to say, why is she lashing out on Beyonce..hmmmm (hate)
When I heard Beyonce's introduction of Tina Turner as 'the Queen' especially after mentioning Aretha Franklin's name in the same introduction - I thought to myself... "hmm... that sounds like a swipe at Aretha". Not simply because she used the word "Queen", but the way in which it was done.
Honestly, it sounded like a swipe to me and that was before Aretha sent out her message. I get the feeling that something went on behind the scenes with either the grammy folks or with Beyonce's camp and this was a way to give Aretha a "know your place" slap.
Beyonce does seem to speak sometimes before she thinks, or someone in her camp should have advised her differently if it was scripted, but is not an intentional slight. Now, Aretha has a right to respond if she feels slighted and yes, if I were Beyonce, I would call Aretha and clarify, she’s owed that. Tina is great in all she has accomplished, never would take anything from her. Aretha is great; never take anything from her, no matter her age, weight or last hit song. I think it is totally disrespectful for so many people (especially these obviously girlie men on this post) to comment on Aretha's weight. What does that have to do with her career/status-RESPECT, she is a legend. I do think Aretha couldn't care less if she looked or could dance like Tina. Aretha is real and has always been; don't think jealousy is a factor.
I can see why she might be a little hurt, but she didn't say Queen of Soul, she just said Queen. She could've saved more face by acting more graceful about it. Tina is a Queen in her own right, but I think the Queen of Rock and Roll is actually considered Stevie Nicks.
