EX: People thought Jay-Z was with Rihanna because of the Umbrella song.

People often think that when a man and woman are working together. I am sure it happens a lot more often when the people are in the public eye but it happens to everyday people too. It seems to be very hard for a man and woman to either be friends, work together or perform together w/o people thinking (or assuming) sex is involved.

Because there have been plenty examples of when it *was* true. Vince Gill and Amy Grant had a duet, both were married to other people. A few years later, they divorced their spouses and got married. That's just one example.

I guess its because of the intensity of the emotions that have to be presented to the viewer, that many people make the assumption that they are humpin and bumpin.

Uh, Garth Brookes and Trisha Yearwood. For years there was "nothing going on". Yeah Right. They both lost my respect after that.

well they are around one another alot

it could happen

Ex: Look at all the Country Music Singers and Pop singers who have all done duets with each other. They are in BUSINESS to sell records! These records are about sex. Sex sells! Some of them do sleep with collaborators and some don't. Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty were "Prof. Partners/Collaborators" and I can assure you they NEVER slept with each other. What they did was have their producers pick songs from songwriters who sent their material to Nashville's Music Row and they picked songs for them or whoever which would be good as a duet to sell more records. She NEVER went out on her marital vows to Doo, her husband and only lover!

Other ex: Dolly Parton and all her partners, yes, she did with most of them. She wrote her love songs, she's pure in heart, ergo: she had to "collaborate" to get the experiences to use the emotions of what she "lived and loved." Tanya Tucker, yes. Look at all the drug use by her and her depressions!

Other ex: Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" Hard to say, honestly, I don't think so because he was during that period of his life a very happily married man.

A lot of them do, a lot don't. If you have a singer-songwriter, odds are YES in order to get their experiences of actual love and emotions down for the music. If you have just a singer who's doing a "cover" song of a singer-songwriter's song, maybe in a duet, most-likely NOT. Most of the time, they're staying "Pure in heart" and true to themselves and not going out on their purity as an artist. Hope this answers your ?
