What is the big deal with High School Musical may I ask?!
Question: Why are kids, as well as teens, going sooo crazy on this film!!!??? I mean, yeah come on its got some good songs in it, and yes it is fun! But whats all this about it being better than GREASE!!! I mean Grease is the best, and besides, if you look at it the first High School Musical is copying Grease! yes it is! Troy decides not to go out with Gabriella because he thinks it'll make him look weird in front of his friends going out with a New Girl who is quiet and is a maths freak! and in Grease, he dosn't want to go out with her because he looks weird in front of his friends going out with a cheerleader whos a newbie and a bit of a nerd! there's loads more that I can't mention.
I'm not trying to say I don't like people liking it, but I want to know what this deal is? it is no where near better than Grease! (not trying to make things worse but it is soo cheesy!!)

i think its soooooo cheesy and a bit over rated.
it appeals to kids coz they think that life is all happy and that eventually they will get what they want, also the characters in it are ones teens/kids feel like they can relate to. loads of viewers fancy the actors/actresses in it anyway ! it is quite original too and i suppose that increased its populrity as for once adults did not have the lead role and its really is based on the youngsters. i personally dont like it put i think some of the songs are quite catchy. its really bad that zac effron didnt even sing in the first film! how could he mime so much ?!!??

i think that grease is way better than high school musical! i think the 2nd high school musical is better!
I decided to give HSM 1 a fair hearing and managed to watch it for around 7 minutes before reaching for the barf bucket and changing channel. HSM re-defines cheese.
That's good question. I would think that HSM would be a little more mature in topics they mention just because it's Disney than in Grease. Also because of the actors perhaps. I really don't know. I'm not one of those people into it.
never seen it, and have no plans to see it until my 3 year old gets a lot older and then only if she asks
Are all these teen/school movies the same. Boy or girl get make over and then the cool one likes them etc. Not seen HSM so do not know if this is what it is about.

High school musical is the first ever big film for kids and teenagers in this generation...no it may not be as good as grease, but grease wernt in their time....
I am 23, and I am quite the fan (cringe lol). I don't quite know what it is about it. I like musicals. I also like cheese!

I think it was because since grease they hadn't been anything like that around. The 1st one was awesome, but i seriously wouldn't give the movie and the actors THAT much credit.
Just leave it alone if you don't like it!
