...johnny depp?!

Question: ladies, can we be honest here? he is not that good an actor.
can't you see that?
i love jessica biel, but i'm not saying she deserves an oscar for the way she looked in that flight suit in "stealth."
maybe i did try to mount a campaign for a new category that would have been called "best butt in a uniform" but i'm not kidding myself about anything else.
"sweeney todd" was just that pirate character he'd already done only with less facial hair, jewelry and expressiveness. and more singing. lots more singing.
i know women like when guys actually take time with their appearance, but he looks like he spends days before he goes to any of the many award presentations he somehow gets invited to. and then everybody asks: did prince dress him? or maybe jack white from the white stripes? why can't he get his own look already?
he's in his forties now. time to stop with the "johnny" business. nothing less dignified than a fifty year old calling himself "johnny."
i don't get it.

Depp is not a great actor, but he's good. Every character he plays is unique and different. "Sweeney Todd" was a good movie, but not Oscar worthy (I honestly enjoyed this musical). The way he chooses to dress himself is his style. No matter how old you are or what you do, you should always be comfortable with yourself. (I know people have to dress a certain way at certain times, but you choose to do it because it makes you look professional). He goes to award shows dressing kind of weird compared to the other guests, but that's him. He doesn't need to impress anyone, why should he dress like everyone else? And yes, Depp is 44 years old and he is still called Johnny. So what? Look at Johnny Carson and Johnny Cash, they died at the age of 80 and 71 and they are still called Johnny. (These two men did wonderful things in their lives). Yes, when you hear the name Johnny you expect someone young, but that doesn't matter.

Johnny is an amazing actor and gorgeous

sniff sniff i smell ENVY

He is a good actor. You should see more of his movies to comment, not only relying on the fact that you didnt like Sweeny Todd.
And he looks like he has his own style, and I dont think he even cares about how he looks. If he did, we would see him trying to look hot, and not the way he looks all the time.
He does not have to change his name just cuz he is aging. Thats ridiculous.

Hold on. First of all, Johnny Depp is one of the finest actors of this generation and one of the few with the balls to take on unique roles that require commitment and more than looking good on the screen. Have you seen him in every film he has ever done? I doubt it otherwise you would see what a force to be reckoned with that he is. Your main arguments seem to be about his appearance which have absolutely nothing to do with his ability as an actor. Please watch these movies as an example of how great this man is and pay close attention:

The Libertine: specifically his opening and ending monologue
Charlie and the Chocolate factory: For his creepy portrayal of Willy Wonka.
Pirates trilogy: Everyone has to admit that he was the best part of those movies.
Edward Scissorhands: Straight up classic.
Chocolat, Donnie Brasco, etc......he is fabulous and your argument is very weak, and I happen to like his style so who cares what you think.

Johnny was blessed with some sort of animal magnetism...he doesn't even have to work at it. He's naturally appealing, doesn't need Armani suits and Britesmile teeth. He's 44 years old, he HAS his own look, it seems to me that the younger generations like Jack White are copying HIM. Maybe you could post a picture of yourself and let us ladies with such poor taste in men post our opinions of your "look" and name??? Kay?? ;)
