What is the difference btw the academy awards, oscars, Grammies?!
Question: You have lots of awards around. Directors, actors and singers do not only need the fame and money, they also need the recognition…That’s why they are actors and singers in the first place, they need to be loved and appreciated by the masses.
The Oscars are tonight and are given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, that is why Oscars winners always thank the “Academy”. A lot of people think it’s the most important award because if you win one, you’re not only an actor, you become forever an “Oscar winner actor” wherever you go. Other people think it’s a way for Hollywood to pat himself on the back since directors vote for directors and actors vote for actors…and so on. The Oscars are just about movies.
As one of the previous poster said, the Grammies are the awards for music, the Emmys are the awards for television and the Tony’s are the awards for theater.
Some awards are even better than those because they are not given by their peers but by an outside source.
Like the Golden Globes Awards which are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for both movies and television. So if you get a Golden Globe award, you are being chosen by professional journalists and critics from all over the world, it’s not a pat in the back anymore.
Also, the People’s Choice Awards, for movies, television and music…those are chosen by the people, not other actors or directors, just your fans. It’s a popularity contest and very well appreciated by the winners. Power to the people (they are really the ones paying the ticket in the end).
Also the SAG awards are important too, the Screen Actors Guild is the nation’s largest labor union representing working actors.

well basically they cover the same things. Grammys are for music artists. Academy awards can cover actors and music scores etc., the Oscars are strictly for movies and movie related things.
