You are lucky to not know anyone with cancer - it affects 1 in 3 people these days. I have just lost my dad to cancer of the oesophagus. I was gutted to hear about Patrick - i adored him! Good luck Patrick with the treatment.
I heared it was not true about having a few weeks he has more than that..but its still sad

That's actually really depressing. Considering Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite and one great movie..
People who have that kind of cancer usually only last a few months.. But I've heard he has the most fatal kind. Although he is working GREAT with treatments and responding very well.

I had a good friend who died of pancreatic cancer. Its usually fatal. I'll say a prayer for him.
A work colleague died recently of pancreatic cancer; it seems to be getting more common. I think they can remove the part of the Pancreas that has the cancer, let’s hope this is the case for PS.

This business about only having a few weeks to live has been denied. It's all down to the newspapers jumping on the band-wagon too quickly - only to get it wrong. Again ! ! !
That was one of the trash tabloids "crack" investigations. According to the "REAL" newsies, Patrick is undergoing treatment and according to the doctors has a while yet to live. I am very happy to hear that! Do not believe all you read in the "trashloids!"

Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," Swayze's doctor, George Fisher, was quoted as saying.
"All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."
George appeared to be responding to rumors that began circulating on the Internet early Wednesday, alleging that the 55-year-old actor was in serious condition and had just weeks to live.
Swayze's representative said the actor, who was voted Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine in 1991, was "continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects."
The popular leading hunk appeared in a slew of movies in the 1980s and 1990s, including "Youngblood," "Red Dawn," "Road House" and "Point Break."
Tabloids including the National Enquirer and New York Post first reported Swayze's diagnosis, with both describing it as more serious than the actor's representatives let on.
"Pancreatic cancer spreads rapidly and is seldom detected in its early stages, which is a major reason why it's a leading cause of cancer death," the US-based Mayo Clinic says on its web site, calling it "one of the most serious of cancers
Yes, Patrick Swayze does have a form of cancer. However, it is quite untrue that he has only a few days or weeks to live.
Someone phoned into LBC this morning to tell us that her husband is suffereing from the same form of cancer as is Patrick Swayze and that her husband is still living 15 years after being diagnosed with the disease.

yeah very sad, my mum was a big fan of his when he was in dirt dancing and ghost films and seems like a nice guy all round so it is very sad. i seen my uncle go through this and its not very nice.
edit: draco made a good point there, about do you feel sad for normal people and not only famous people, i know he is a nice guy in real life and all but would you feel the same about some random person who had the same as him?

Well there are conflicting reports about that. This morning I heard that it was 1.5 weeks,then later on I heard that he was responding to treatment. Whatever the case,it is sad to lose such a great actor and person,not just for his fans but for his very long term wife. His movie Road House which he was explosive in will always be one of my faves.
was very shocked to hear it on the news this morning,it has been confirmed by his agent that he has the illness but will not confirm how long he may have left.He is still working while he has treatment. Why do horrible things always happen to the nicest people? My thoughts are with his family.
