Question: When we found out it is much easier to ignore the truth and go sit and watch another episode of worthlessness.

when hollywood was born.we people just don't admit it.

who is "we"...cuz i dont

When our rights were stripped away and the individual no longer began mattering in society unless they had deep pockets. But it's ok! They pity us poor people, they gave us FREE TELEVISION!

a long time ago ,,sad sad world we live in lol...

Well my real issue is going to work everyday and raising my child .

We always have, celebs are no new thing, they're just more easily accessible.
Way back to the times of Queen Elizabeth there were celebrities, such as Sir Walter Raleigh and his like.
Shakespeare was a big celeb in his day and had an army of admirers who'd trundle around on the back of his coat tails.
I think the difference is that they are thrust in our face a lot more because of modern media, everything is instantly accessible and reportable these days.

Although the public have always been in love with celebrities, it was probably with the advent of cable news that news and real issues started to take a back seat.

I remember when I was a kid we'd watch Walter Cronkite every night and he would tell us how many died in Viet Nam and they'd show the flag-draped coffins of the fallen soldiers. The constant view of what was really going on caused the youth to protest the war and take a hard look at what the military-industrial complex was doing to our world.

With the advent of cable news the quality of reporting has really gone downhill. They have 24 hours to fill and they often rush to judgment as to what qualifies as news (car chase, Britney). News used to be an objective accounting of the facts but, now it seems, people only want to hear what they want to hear -- and if you don't care for objective reporting you can always turn on the Faux News Network, where opinion seems to masquerade as fact.

Blame the media (all sections of it) they think this is what most people want to hear about, full 10 minute section about the Oscars DURING the news, only 10 seconds about a missing child, as for when it started, it probably got worse when news became transmitted and printed 24hrs a day.

People by nature have always been inclined to "forget" about their problems, the problems of society, and the problems of the world by getting caught up in the world of Hollywood.

The 20's were called the Roaring 20's because music and culture flourished, as a way for people to escape daily life.

People go to movies to get caught up in a fairy tale, or a love story, or even a horror movie for pure entertainment. Celebrities have so many things that the majority of us don't have. It's interesting to us!

Because celebrities are somehow managing to take over the world, and ruining it with their pathetic images and reputation. But i'm definitely not one of those ridiculous people who fantasise with celebrities.
