Does fame make people more shallow?!

I think that certain people, who are raised a certain way, will turn out to be very shallow if they become famous. People who are raised with morals have less of a chance. Everyone has temptations.

I think fame often goes to people's heads and makes them very shallow. But in that industry, it's often necessary to look your best and be "shallow"

This, of course, does not apply to all.

Fame changes people. Most people let fame go to their heads.

Yes it does. But the fact is that they might well have already been shallow before they were famous.

chicks like paris hilton, lindsay lohan, and britney spears need to get punched in the face

allah, i hate them so much
they're all stuck up just cuz they're famous, we need to take them down a notch, even if it means going to extremes like killing that guy on youtube or sending them fanmail that's infected with anthrax

Yes, when people are kissing upto you all the time. You tend to get big headed and shallow.

See, you were doing allright until you turned your question around and included a shallow nature. It certainly seems that being in the right place at the right time as opposed to "I've worked years for this" Has become the norm. Witness the countless reality tv shows. However, in the interests of science, I'm willing to put your theory to the test. Simply get me a part in one of the numerous soap operas, and send me a large bag of money, and in six months I'll let you know how I've got on.
Sounds good to me. What do you think?

Just after submitting this I read the flawed Jihad bloke.

He is isn't he? (think about it)
And reported him. Why do we have to kill each other?

No. Shallow people simple make the best celebrities.

To misquote a famous saying fame doesn't make people shallow, people make famous people shallow. When you cater to their every need it is hard to not let it go to your head. But Ms. Cyris has done a good job of not falling into that trap. She does her homework, has a small allowance and keeps her nose clean and doesn't act up in public. The only value Paris Hilton has is how well she mess up in public. She is notable simply because she is rich and a fool in public.

Don't forget that many Lottery winners become shallow as well, spending all their money on foolish things and even buying a house that they can't afford to pay for when their money runs out. They are not as famous as celebrities, but many of them fall prey to the same mistakes. This proves that it is not the fame, but the celebrity involved who is the shallow one.

Melissa Joan Hart did very well as Sabrina the Teenage Witch and was very popular for a while, but she had a few missteps on the way; all in all though she has handled her fame pretty well. Currently she is not one of the top celebrities and so is not hounded by the paparazzi.

Sara Michelle Gellar is a celebrity who is well grounded, wants to advance her career and hasn't made any mistakes in public that haunt her. Her acting may not be the best, but she tries hard. Like Jennifer Love Hewitt she is looking for a way to break out of the role of "Scream Queen" and staring in only horror flicks. People magazine also says she is one of the best celebrities when it comes to being physically fit since she stays with her same training as she did back when she played Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She does that to stay thin, healthy, fit and looking good as well as capable of being an action star if the chance ever comes her way.

Brittney Spears and her sister Jamie are of course the poster children for a celebrity train wreck. When Brittney was being managed as a teenager she kept it together and while some of her videos may have been a bit racy she was a clean cut kid. Once she became an adult she got out from under her parents and became a total failure in ever field; from parenting, to partying too much, to even wrecking her carrier. Her parents never taught her how to live on her own so she failed; all of her mistakes are in part traceable back to her parents’ failure as parents.

The Beetles had a similar problem, their manager took care of all their needs and every situation was handled by him. When he died the group was lost and soon after Yoko Ono came into the mix and destroyed it. The Beatles broke up because they found out how hard it was to be a rock star, their manager handled all the hard stuff and they didn't know how to do it themselves. You can probably make the same claim about Brittney Spears. So her parents are just as at fault as she is.

Morgan Fairchild was never more than a B rated celebrity, but like Marlin Monroe she was a blond with a genius level IQ. In the case of Morgan Fairchild she hasn't done much. In the case of Marlin Monroe she did too much and for whatever reason she seemed to have committed suicide.

It looks like Keith Ledger was just trying to handle the stress of being a top rate actor. He wasn't a huge partier, but he died because of the prescription medication he was taking. Basically he saw different doctors and they didn't know all the medication that he was taking so he ended up taking a fatal overdose even under a doctor's care. If he had stayed with one doctor or told every doctor all about his medications then he would probably still be alive. His mistake was caused by the doctors he trusted and not by any of his faults. True he had problems with stress, but his job was a stressful one.

Anyone who thinks that being a famous person isn't stressful hasn't looked at all they do. They are held up to be examples of behavior in either the good or the bad that they do. Their triumphs and failures are there in public for all to see and for the media to pick over, dissect and discuss. Then when they finally die they are still talked about and dissected to no end.

To this day no one knows for sure if Marlin Monroe committed suicide or was murdered, conspiracy theorist are still talking about that and her relationship with President Kennedy.

People are people and it doesn’t matter if they are celebrities or not. Being a celebrity only magnifies their mistakes and their triumphs. Since bad news makes the best news to report we hear more about those who fail then those who succeed. Sarah Michelle Gellar is not that famous right now even though she has been in 3 movies this fall. Brittney has only done one guest appearance and she is all over the pages and the net because people like to see the failures in others. When you see someone important fail then it makes your failures seem to be small by comparison.

Soap operas are successful on several levels one big part of what makes their popular is that all the major characters have lives fraught with danger, misfortune, bad luck, and enemies lurking around the corner. Seeing their trouble filled lives it makes that lives of the audience seem not so bad. There is an ancient Chinese curse; May you live in interesting times.” Sarah Michelle Gellar’s life isn’t that interesting at the moment, but Brittney Spear’s life seems to be fascinating and the media loves following her, talking about her and discussing her. What she needs to do is to go in to rehab for a few months and then lay low for another few months and stage a come back.
