Why does Johnny Depp have and English accent all of a sudden?!

He's pretentious. I think he's done good work but if you've ever read an interview with the guy; he's pretentious. I've never met him but that's my guess.
Edit:The person below is probably not familiar with "21 Jump Street" nor did he/she watch Depp in the original Nightmare film. Again; I like the guy as an actor. But he doesn't seem like the kind of guy I'd want to share a beer with or a bowling lane for that matter.
