He is very much alive, he's done quite a few albums of Carpenters hits since Karen's death!. He's married with 5 children!. He attended the Carpenter Gathering in 1999 (you can see video footage of it on Youtube)!. He took part in the film The Karen Carpenter Story though I heard he doesn't like the film (It's on YouTube also)!.
