Maybe because it lacked some comedy and entertainment like those movies of Rajni and Vijay, but for me the movie was allright though it wasn't as i expected!.
According to wikipedia it says
The film, upon release, became one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Tamil cinema, breaking records in India as well as overseas!.
Dasavataram became a big hit in my country too!.
Overall it was a good movie and Kamal once again prooved to be a talented actor!.
