He got arrested because he raised his voice to his Mom and Sis!. His sister asked for a substantial amount of money and after he refused they started to say some not so nice things about his wife!. So naturally he was defending her, like any good husband should!.
All the charges against him have been dropped!. It was really no big deal, but of course the media made it out to be!.
Oh and the arrest happened when The Dark Knight was first released!.

He wasn't actually arrested!. He was called in for questioning because his mother and sister filed a complaint against him!. It seems that Christian, his mother and sister got into an argument either over money or over something the mother said to or about Christian's wife!. It appears the argument escalated into a full-out screaming match!. Some say he shoved his mother, but there is no proof of that!.
He was questioned about the fight and released because the police were satisfied that Christian acted with in the law!.
I believe this happened the night of the London premiere of the Dark Knight!.
