A student of the classical composer Edgar Varese, Zappa had many years of serious classical training, was an astonishing guitar player, and had a band that could play his complicated arrangements on the first pass!.
To me the genious isn't so much illustrated in the lyrics, which are kind of deliberately kinky and negative, but in the music, which is exhuberant, brave and original!.
Of course in modern times, no one noticeds the music, so someone like Zappa gets lost in the indifference and ignorance of the masses!.
