I think as himself, he can be quite funny, but he always picks characters that are painful to watch and while you feel sorry for them, like David Brent, there's always more dislike than pity!.

no sorry i do not find this person called Ricky Gervais funny at all nor did i find his comedy programme "the office " funny whether it be the british version or the american one, even his live shows are not funny, i find him a very boring comedian i would rather sit and watch paint dry!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
