Question: Amy Winehouse - why don't her parents step in!?
I really like Amy Winehouse's music, and I am sad to see how drug dependent she has become, ok I know she is a grown up, but should that stop her parents from getting her some proper help!? I know if that was my child, then it wouldn't matter how old they were, they would be sectioned (if need be) and made to sort their life out, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, and although Amy would proabably hate them for doing so, she would be eternally grateful to them in the long run!. So my question is this, how could any parent just sit back and allow their child to self destruct!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with you that her parents should have her sectioned!. And I don't care how old she is or how famous, as a parent with an adult child, you are not responsible for her anymore, but surely any loving parent would do all they can to help her!. I would take my daughter myself and haul her into a psychiatric ward and sign the papers myself!. If she hated me for it, then tough, at least hopefully she'd be alive at the end of it!.
I like her music, but i have always refused to buy any of her stuff as i would just be giving her money to fuel her drug habit!. When a star gets like that it should be law that sales of their records are banned till they are off drugs!.
what signal is she giving out to younger children!. Watching X Factor last night with my 10 year old grand daughter and lot of the entrants were singing Valerie!. My grand daugher said to me, "Amy Winehouse is just a druggie granny, and people shouldn't buy her records, because that is not a good thing to do"!. But not all children are sensible and a lot would think that this is the way to get famous!. She is more famed now for her life style than she is for her music!.
What I can never understand is when adults start taking drugs when they are "adults"!. I can understand a young teenager with peer pressure and no self control, but a grown person KNOWS the dangers of drugs, so why start in the first place!.
This sounds hard but I have no sympathy for her at all!. She is doing nothing herself to get off the stuff, so YES, it IS time the parents stepped in!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Maybe they have tried and she has given them the cold shoulder!. Maybe there really is nothing more that they can do other than tell the media how worried they are about their little girl!. I am assuming that not every parent is given a How To manual - especially one with a chapter called "How to Stop Your Child From Drugging Him/Herself To Death"!.

I don't personally know her parents, but I'd imagine they taught her everything she knows!. They probably set the example!. How can they help her if what she's doing is normal to them!?

you are wrong!. her parents have, and are helping her!. i saw an interview where mitch said that they have talked to a world renound specialist and the advice that was given was to let amy realize for herself that she needs help!. she has done that now and is on the road to recovery!. :) ol!Www@Enter-QA@Com
i don't really know her parents, but i think the reason Amy Winehouse is addicted to drugs so much is because thats how she was taught by her parents!. i think her parents are just as bad as her, but not on camera!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They seem to be doing all they can!. I don't follow celebrity gossip, but every time I happen across something about her, there's usual mention of her dad!.

What makes you think they haven't stepped in!?!.!.I've heard they begged fans to stop buying her albums, and whatever, so she'd stop getting the money she needs!.!.!.!.Amy Winehouse is an Adult!. If she doesn't want to do something, She's obviously not going to do it, even if her parents are on they're hands and knee's begging her to go to rehab!. i know what you mean,
but the only person that can force her to go to hospital or rehab is her husband, her parents have no control over where she goes!.
amy has said she has never done rehab properly, she always smuggles drugs, i have no idea how, but she says everytime she has done it
there is no controlling her, her dad will live with her, but when he goes to bed she can sneak and get/ do some drugs!.
trust me they have tried everything,
there is nothing they can do, its all up to amy!.!.!.
mitch has lived with amy before, but she runs away or sneaks in drugs,
when amy is ready, she will get help!.
i think she is ready now, so i am really hoping we hear some good news about her soon!.!.!.
