Question: Why do some people dislike/hate the late Steve Irwin!?

I guess you could ask - why does anyone 'hate' anyone!. I think some people found him over the top & perhaps thought that his level of energy was so high & full on that it had to be fake, you just don't find many ppl genuinely that full of visible passion & energy!. Being Australian myself, I was never that impressed as I thought he was taking the stereotype of an Australian 'larrakin' to the extreme !.!.!. in Australia we call my reaction 'cultural cringe'!. I didn't want the world to think that he was a 'typical' Australian, or that all Australians are like that!. Then I watched a show here in Australia - Enough Rope - & it was a one to one hour long interview with him!. I realised he was just being genuine, & it was really who he was!. He had integrity & faith in what ppl could do to conserve animal species & given his upbringing I don't think he could have been any different if he tried to be!. It changed my mind about him!. So some ppl could have found that side of him off-putting!.
That being said, I think some people didn't like or agree with his animal handling techniques or how he pursued wild animals!. Personally I think his intentions and passion came from a place of wanting to learn as much as we can & add value to the pursuit of improving the life of wild animals, & preserving maligned animals such as crocs!. But this topic has so many different valid viewpoints, & I think that for some ppl his way was wrong/offensive/cruel!.

He would wrestle with alligators, and show off about it but all the time he was doing it the alligator would be really uncomfortable and out of its natural environment!. He did raise a lot of money for animals but he did it in a kind of showy way, like taking fish out of water!.

exploited and profited from his animal wrangling!. i dont really think he had such a passion for helping out animals as it was just him getting off on messing around with them!. i found him slightly annoying!. i didnt hate or dislike him but i surely didnt see him as some great animal preservationist that he and his fans tried to make him out to be Www@Enter-QA@Com
i never hated him!.!.!.he was my hero when i was a kid, i used to love seeing him on tv and it was so sad when he died!.!.!.
