In high school musical not as much that happened in the first two happens, but here goes!. So Troy and Gabriella are supposed to do a duet together in the senior year play, but Gabriella's future University (Stanford) makes her come for a "trial" for two weeks to see what it's like!. So Troy and her can't do the duet and Sharpay has to do it with Troy!. Unfortunetely, the prom is at a time when Gabriella is going on her trial thing!. But Troy wanted to go with Gabriella so he drives thousands of miles to pick her up!. She refuses at the beggining but he convinces and persaudes her to come!. Troy doesn't get back until the second act, so Gabriella and his duet ends up being Sharpay's and this weird other dude that is obsessed with Troy!. Sharpay gets really ticked off since she's like in love with Troy!. But Gabriella makes it to graduation and they sing a happy song, but its sad because Taylor goes to Dale, Troy and Chad go to U of A, Gabriella goes to Stanford, Sharpay and Ryan go to Juliana (which is a drama school Troy was considering)!.
