Question: I just watched mariah carey butcher her own song!.!.!.!?
She just sang a great song of hers "hero" but she sounded terrrible, i guess terrible in comparison to how well everyone knows she can really sing! she used that baby voice of hers and never hit the high notes that she can hit and does on cds and some tv appearances!. why is it that she underplays her abililities sometimes!?!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I asked a similar question and only got two responses - I think the same two that answered above me!. Both thought she sounded good, though acknowledged that it was "a different rendition"!.
I agree with you!. I remember when that song came out, and I couldn't get enough of it!. Had it originally sounded like that, I don't think I'd remember the first line, let alone the first word, or even the tune!. It was pretty bad!.

Oh god, I completely agree! I was literally wincing while listening to her!. It's so sad that her voice is just not what it used to be, because she's one of the greatest singers!. Apparently she has a new album calling out called "Ballads" with her re-singing all of her old hits - which is extremely stupid!. She's just going to butcher them all!. Why re-sing them if her voice is going when they already sound great back when she could sing!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

her voice isnt what it was 10 yrs ago!.!.and factoring in that she probably hasnt done that song in a long time (other then the remake) her vocals probably werent up to par for it!.
a womens vocals hit the peak at around 25!. she could probably get back up there if she spent some time with a vocal coach, but its never gunna be what it was!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

She remade the track for promotion of her complication album "The Ballads" She redid Hero in a lighter verison and made a new music video for it!. She was just promoting her album!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I think she sounded great!. But keep in mind she is getting older and can't bounce back and hit whistle pitch every time!.
